About

Software built for the way appraisers actually work.

AwardLettr is the operating system insurance appraisers wished existed, and the platform we use to run our own practice.

Why we’re building this

The work is professional. The tools should be too.

Insurance appraisers run real businesses on the wrong tools. Word documents duct-taped to Excel spreadsheets. Cases scheduled in Outlook. Signatures chased through email. Files saved across six folders.

AwardLettr exists to close that gap. We build the software the work deserves, and that the appraiser running the work deserves.

How we got here

Started as a personal toolkit. Became a platform.

After more than two decades across the property insurance and construction industry, with experience in adjusting, estimating, consulting, and now appraising, our founder was frustrated with the same broken stack every other appraiser was using. He started building the platform he wished existed.

The first version captured cases. The next generated documents. The one after that tracked time and built invoices. By the fourth version, other appraisers were asking how they could use it. The toolkit became a platform. Then a product. Then this.

What we believe

Five operating principles for the platform.

01

Software should match the work.

Generic SaaS bends the appraiser to the tool. We do the opposite. Every workflow, every term, every status maps to the way appraisal cases actually move.

02

Empower, don’t replace.

Your firm name belongs on every document. Your signature belongs on every email. We build the system; you stay the expert.

03

Ship fast. Listen close.

Every feature traces back to a real customer flagging a real problem. We move quickly because we use the platform every day, on our own cases.

04

Look professional.

You operate as part of an appraisal panel, inspecting properties and determining the value of every loss alongside the opposing appraiser and umpire. Your Award letters and panel decisions are read by carriers, TPAs, adjusters, and attorneys. The platform should look like a peer to every professional in the room.

05

Keep the human in the loop.

Automation should remove busywork, never replace your judgment. The appraiser stays in charge of every case.

Where we’re going

The complete operating system for insurance appraisers.

Every case captured. Every document generated. Every billable minute tracked. Every recurring admin task automated away. Mobile-first inspection workflows. AI that speaks appraisal fluently: Award Letters, Panel Declarations, OAs, ACV, RCV, Xactimate.

A platform that becomes invisible while you do the work. We’re building it in public, shipping weekly, and shaping the roadmap around the community of appraisers who use it daily.

About the founder

Twenty-two years in property insurance and construction.

John began his career as a financial analyst at one of Florida’s oldest law firms, then moved into property damage assessment after Hurricane Ivan in 2004. He has been a licensed adjuster since 2006 and has been deployed across major catastrophe events, including Hurricanes Ike, Sandy, Matthew, Harvey, and Ian.

He served as Vice President of Sales & Marketing for a Gulf Coast construction firm managing high-value insurance-funded rebuilds, and as a building consultant on mid-to-large property claims requiring expert estimating and policy-aligned settlement.

John is a U.S. Army Desert Storm veteran with subsequent USAF Reserves service. Every feature we ship traces back to something he needed on his own files, or something a customer flagged this morning. We use the platform on our own cases. We build for the practice we run.
